October 15-16 / TRAVEL DAYS

Flight from PDX / International Arrival, Cairo

Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, you will be met by the ITC in-country representative who will facilitate the visa process and escort you through customs and immigration. Continue on to the baggage claim hall and finally to the passenger pick up, where we will load the bus and drive to your overnight accommodations in Giza, in the shadow of the Great Pyramid.

October 17 / CAIRO

Today, you begin your full day of touring with the Pyramids of Giza and a camel caravan ride in the desert. You'll view the famous Sphinx, a colossal lion with a pharaoh's head and hear the story of the Funeral Boat that brought the Pharaoh to his final resting place along the banks of the Nile. After lunch, we'll drive to the area known as Coptic Cairo to see the location associated with the the life of infant Moses and the escape of Joseph and Mary and baby Jesus into Egypt. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

October 18 / CAIRO

After the breakfast, you will explore the fantastic new Egyptian Museum near Giza, which houses a magnificent collection of Pharaonic antiquities, especially the golden treasures of Tutankamun. After lunch, we'll stop at a wonderful papyrus gallery, where we'll see how the early Egyptians fashioned the first papers known to man. Return to the hotel for pool-time and rest before a floating dinner on the Nile River with traditional Egyptian entertainment.

October 19 / CAIRO - MT. SINAI

After breakfast, you will begin your journey from Cairo across the Sinai Desert to Saint Catherine’s Monastery. Along the way we'll make several stops thought to be the locations where the children of Israel stopped for water and rest. After arriving at Mt. Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments for the children of Israel, we'll tour St. Catherine's Monastery. Evening at leisure to prepare for early morning sunrise hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai.

 

October 20 / JORDAN

St. Catherine - Jordan

Early this morning you will make the ascent to the pinnacle of Mt Sinai. After returning to the hotel, the group will travel by bus to the Taba Border Crossing into Israel near the resort city of Eilat on the Red Sea. From there we proceed to the Arava Border Crossing into Jordan, traveling a similar route to the that of the children of Israel as they escaped the Pharaoh in the Exodus and began the forty years of wandering in the wilderness. Arrive late afternoon at Wadi Rum.
